Ben Affleck in Talks to Direct New DC Superhero Movie

Ben Affleck’s directorial debut in the DCU could potentially take place under James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Affleck’s final screen appearance as DC’s Batman was there Zack Snyder’s Justice Leaguebefore stating that he has plans to move away from the character for good.

At one point, Affleck was confirmed to be starring in and directing a solo Batman Movie that would have fit somewhere in the DCEU. Joe Manganiello was set to reprise his role as Deathstroke and serve as the main antagonist for the film, but he was eventually scrapped when Affleck left.

However, it looks like Affleck will return to the director’s chair under Gunn and Safran’s new management, even if he never dons his cape and hood again.

While the former DCEU star could use his talents in any film, he obviously specializes in one character above all – Batman.

Since Affleck has portrayed the character in several projects and was even in the process of directing his own film about the Dark Knight, his knowledge of the character is above that of the average director.

Affleck knows Bruce Wayne inside out, and while it hasn’t been confirmed, it’s highly likely, and maybe even probable, that this mystery film will be about the DCU’s Batman.

Gunn recently confirmed that Superman will have a big role to play in the future – albeit an iteration of the character that fans are unfamiliar with. Because of this, it’s safe to say that he and Safran are also interested in exploring one of DC’s other most popular characters.
