Yes I remember this guy Chinmayo from my spell in the Hamburg commune (where I was sent in 1984/5) and when I ran the sannyas discos there. Even then as a young man one could sense his humour and stagecraft. (He used to DJ sometimes). At the time I remember him struggling with some physical difficulties and getting up very verty eraly and going swimming, and then going to his commune 'worship' with gutso.
I recently learned that Chinmayo now hosts the satirical program 'Ultimo' on N-TV, whilst also writing a column for the leftist Berliner 'Kurier', twice a week. Not to forget that he still keeps going with his stand-up comedy, his first love. For his act he developed a character called the "Taxman", who loves finding everybody guilty of tax fraud. (This character is hugely popular with companies and corporations!)
