1   General / LIfe (and death) of Osho / The Poisoning of Vivek, Amrito and Devageet, 1985   at 22:46:40
Started by parmartha | Last post by parmartha
On September 16th, 1985 I was at discourse on the Ranch and Osho spoke about Sheela's attempt on the lives of the three disciples who were physically the closest to him, Vivek, Amrito and Devageet. (Text below extracted from the book "From Bondage to Freedom"
Osho said
"Now Sheela is gone and her whole gang is gone. (Now) one sannyasin came immediately to Vivek and told her there was a (Sheela) meeting a few months before...  Vivek, Amrito and Devageet - all three should be killed by slow poisoning. .
Vivek got one dose of slow poison and her heartbeat went absolutely berserk....she had taken only one cup of tea at Jesus Grove (Sheela's headquarters).
In the last celebration here Amrito was injected with poison... he felt the prick.. It happened when Shanti B was by the side of him.... nobody could believe it, but he became pale as if he was dying. He had to be sent to the Bend hospital.....
They could have killed me. Perhaps after killing those three people who are taking care of my health, they would have started slowly poisoning me, so they become absolute dictators of the commune"
So few people seem to cast an eye in Sheela's direction around Osho's subsequent health.
Yet... it was her and her gang that had researched and knew a lot about slow poisoning, and had tried it on three of the commune's most well known figures and at least two state officials.  All of Sheela's gang were feeling the loss of their dictatorial powers since Osho had come out of silence in November,84, and so on and so forth. And yet even though Osho half suggests it himself...  there has never been a complete examination of this possibility. Anando's book explores the possibility, but simply says, Sheela had no way of getting to Osho's food and drink.
One only has to ask, who milked the cows and delivered the milk to Osho's quarters to answer that one.
So how about that as a viable posioning story....

Arhat's main concern is that some people say that Osho  made a false statement on his getting poisioned, and this is not palatable. Dont forget Arhat that Osho was very fond of gossip and said of all his discourses they were simply gossips. Also when asked whether he was a Charlatan he answered yes.
He was really a very non-serious guy! The gossip at the time of the returning samples was all inspired by Amrito who had his own agenda... in fact Osho simply repeats what Amrito says. Osho himself did not have any real faith in natuopathy or eastern medicine, unlike many of his disciples) and had great respect for western medicine. Osho may well have believed he was poisoned, but that does not make it so.
Arhat, yes there is certainly a sense in which Osho was crucified, not only by the American government but the governments of the 22 countries that banned him, which must have been a terrible strain as he went round the world in that Lear Jet looking for a home. Finally the Indian Government was also culpable, they sent police into his room at one point early in Pune two.  Also very distressing.
In Pune one they were alwasy haressing the ashram and Osho in one way or the other. There is always a constant war between people such as Osho and the values of the societies and governments he sees are false, and as Gurdjieff used to say are the work of "Idiots".

Have you never considered the possibility that Osho was simply suffering from cancer himself?
Dr Colin Mackintosh, London,(p61,Was BSR poisoned by RR's America) having looked at all the stuff that Amrito sent him and Amrito's background notes,  felt there were only three possible causes, cancer, exposure to radiation or thallium poisoning. Note he puts cancer first.
As soon as the ashram got this information, they simply concentrated on the third. Having seen a number of people die of cancer I can only say that Osho's symptoms certainly were similar to what I have seen.
On the main point of this string, you seem unable to acknowledge that Osho or anyone else would not have exposed themselves to arrest without Sheela's strange behaviour, typical of the paranoia and ruthlessness of Dictators everywhere. Osho simply would not have left the Ranch in the extempore way he did in 85 without the instability that had been created by Sheela's crimes.

I loved being a sannyasin, I loved my fellow sannyasins so so much, I loved osho's ways and his places.

In 1978 I was following such a chemically and psychology self-destructive lifestyle that it is easy to imagine that, without one day taking the lift up to the top of a warehouse in Belmont Square Chalk Farm, I would not be alive now.

So, through or despite all these efforts to reinvent myself in this thread, that love remains.

It remains.

It remains just as pure love.

Just as love.

Just that.

Sakal thinks I missed. Missed what?

There is love.

Then what did I miss? If there is love?

What do I miss? If that love grows?

If it outgrows all its names, all the names I find ermbedded in me and dig out... if it outgrows all that, all those, yet still is?

It is good to write this. It is the other side of my earlier argumentative words.

From Surendra via Edit, any responses?

We all have in us two Elements, exoteric and esoteric, Zorba and Buddha, west and east. Osho by calling the "New Man" Zorba the Buddha meant a balance of these Elements. Let us look each of us alone inside and watch which element we nurture most in us. I think all the fights and differences on all sannyas email lists and Groups come out of the conflict between these two Elements and of course many other things but head and heart, exoteric and esoteric, I feel are the main elements.

About compilations and copy-rights I can say something from my own personal experience. Anubhuti RMC (now OMC) has all sorts of 'contracts' (Vertäge) with the "Rajneesh Foundation-India" which IMO is still the holder of copy-rights on all the work of Bhagwan-Osho. There has been no legal transfer of these copy-rights to OIF-Zürich. They have been asked to produce documents about this so called transfer but have not produced any until now. I prsonally signed the cotracts for producing Audio/Videos of Osho's discourses ( we have about 300 Master Audio Tapes ), and for publishing a book , a translation of an early English book called "The Silent Explosion" published by Jeevan Jagriti Kendra, Bombay in 1973. It is a composition of lectures given by Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (Osho) at A-1, Woodlands, Peddar Road, Bombay. INDIA. We got the German translation manuscript just after the financial problems started in Anubhuti center and it was not published. But we still have the German manuscript with us, and if we had the financial support then we can still publish it.  This will be a project I will love to do, with a group of friends and financial support from the sannyasins in Munich. But friends I don't want to get in a "Money debate" like in year 2005. Any suggestions will be welcome.

Here is an excerpt about Osho's view of what happen's after a Master leaves His body, I think this explains what is happening in Poona now.

from Osho's book "The Great Challenge"

"This always happens: when I say something, I create two groups of people around me. One group will be exoteric. They will organize, they will do many things concerned with society, with the world that is without; they will help preserve whatsoever I am saying. The other group will be more concerned with the inner world. Sooner or later the two groups are bound to come in conflict with one another because their emphasis is different. The inner group, the esoteric mind, is concerned with something quite different from the exoteric group. And, ultimately, the outer group will win, because they can work as a group. The esoteric ones cannot work as a group; they go on working as individuals. When one individual is lost, something is lost forever.

This happens with every teacher. Ultimately the outer group becomes more and more influential; it becomes an establishment. The first thing an establishment has to do is to kill its own esoteric part, because the esoteric group is always a disturbance. Because of "heresy," Christianity has been destroying all that is esoteric.

And now the Pope is at the opposite extreme to Jesus: this is the ultimate schism between the exoteric and the esoteric. The Pope is more like the priests who crucified Jesus than like Jesus himself. If Jesus comes again, he will be crucified in Rome this time -- by the Vatican. The Vatican is the exoteric, organizational part, the establishment."

I do not know but I hope in the case of Osho a balance will happen between the two Elements and "Zorba the Buddha" emerges as Osho wished. Miracles do happen.

Love to you all

Surendra

Here's what I think happened.

When Osho left the body, Amrito enquired and found that Vivek had been giving him a glass of Coca-Cola every day. He immediately concluded that Osho had died of Coca-Cola poisoning and hired Parmartha to assassinate Vivek.

Now Parmartha is engaged in covering his tracks by promoting Sheela's accusations against Osho. However, his guilt for assassinating Vivek has caused him to become addicted to Nitrous Oxide and he is messing it up.

"There are enlightened sannyasins. It is just out of gratitude that they don't want their names to be declared. While I am here, they don't want themselves to be declared as enlightened. I would love to declare them, but I can understand their difficulties. People will start feeling jealous, people will start feeling competitive. People will start finding faults in them. Why create trouble for those people?"
====================================================
And you think people who feel like that will declare themselves later?

The trouble is one feels you have hidden agendas,  you are not genuinely seeking the truth.  If you were genuinely seeking the truth, you would be a bit more careful about what you write.

Thanks Gagan and Alok for some of the information here.
Gagan -  George Meredith is the legal name of Amrito.
I do have access to Maneesha's books and will check them on this incident.
I am like Gagan not aware of Amrito writing up any events beyond 1981, but I may not have all the literature.
