DU extends last date of seat acceptance till Saturday; over 70,000 candidates accept allotted college so far

Over 70,000 candidates have accepted the college and course assigned to them in the first round of allocation by the University of Delhi, despite the university extending the deadline for accepting the allocated places by one day.

The university on Wednesday announced the first list of seat assignments with the names of over 80,000 candidates for admission to various undergraduate programs.

“The university awarded 80,164 places in various categories. As of 7:29 p.m. Friday, 71,741 candidates had accepted their allocated spots,” said a senior university official.

Admissions to 70,000 student places are underway and admissions of 54,395 candidates have already begun, he added.

The number of seats at the DU colleges is 70,000, but the university allocated additional seats in non-reserved (OBC-NCL and EWS) and reserved (SC, ST and PWBD) categories in the first list, bringing the number to 80,164 increased, the university had announced that in the first round of seat allocation, each course in each college would retain 20 percent additional seats for candidates from the non-reserved categories — OBC-NCL and EWS — and also 30 percent in the reserved categories SC, ST, and PWBD .

This was done to ensure that the reserved spaces, which remain vacant throughout the year, can be filled, it said.

The university issued a notice Friday night informing that the final date for accepting allocated undergraduate places on the first merit list has been extended to 12 noon Saturday.

“The date and time of the first round of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS 2022) has been extended to 11:59 a.m. Saturday. It states that candidates who have been assigned a seat in CSAS Round-I must “accept” the assignment via the dashboard.

The university said only those candidates who have received admission should pay the fees.

At the University of Delhi, admission to 79 undergraduate courses in 67 colleges, departments and centers is based on the results of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the first time.

Until last year, admissions were via merit rolls based on grade 12 grades, which saw escalating cut-offs. In the past, the university announced up to seven cut-off lists each year.
