Friday Headlines: Potential NBA Draft Cats Edition

It has become standard for Kentucky that multiple players are likely to be selected in the NBA draft. Kentucky has produced the newest NBA players (27) and has had top-notch talent year after year. There is no difference this season as Kentucky has a full roster with several talented individuals. Some have been identified as potential draft picks, while others have plenty of time to build their draft stash.

A new mock draft by The Athletic’s Sam Vencenie lists newcomers Cason Wallace and Chris Livingston as first-round players, with Wallace currently being forecast as a lottery pick. Reigning international of the year Oscar Tshiebwe and Jacob Toppin are currently on the list as second-round picks.

Wallace and Livingston are two incredible athletes with incredible talent. They boast high ceilings and this year in Kentucky they have an incredible opportunity to move even closer to the top of the draft board.

Tshiebwe and Toppin are two experienced players who see their game improve drastically as their careers progress. Another year of growth could see their names in the first round or early in the second round.

While these four players are the most likely to be called up from this year’s team, there are a select few who could work their way onto this board. Adou Thiero, Antonio Reeves, CJ Fredrick and Daimion Collins come to mind.

Recently, head coach Calipari Thiero compared something to Immanuel Quickley and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the sense that he’s behind ‘some other guys’ but could very well prove that his performance should make him play on the pitch.

A pleasant surprise for this team’s early show and scrimmage action was Reeves. His ability to score at all stages of the game was relatively impressive, and the NBA is undeniably a goalscoring league.

It’s no secret that Fredrick is a knockdown shooter, and several players have made a living from it in the NBA. A strong year shooting basketball and staying healthy on the court could be enough to earn a late-round draft pick.

Finally, Collins — arguably the team’s most hyped player heading into this season — has the physical tools every NBA scout loves. He has gained weight and is working on his offensive skills. The natural traits are there, and a breakout season could quickly build draft momentum for sophomore Wildcat.

Tampa Bay and Tom Brady are seeing the wrong side of history.
