The Department of Economics of the Faculty of Social Sciences advertises applications for a full/associate/associate professorship in economics. The Department of Economics is a growing academic institution with excellent prospects that aims to achieve excellence in teaching and research in economics. The faculty currently offers a wide range of courses leading to B.Soc.Sc, M.Soc.Sc. and Ph.D. Degree. Faculty members are actively engaged in research with a particular focus on econometrics, macroeconomics, microeconomic theory, public economics, and economic growth. Applicants must have a doctorate in economics or an equivalent discipline and proven achievements in research and teaching at university level. We welcome applicants from all areas of economics. While applicants are required to be fluent in English, the ability to speak Chinese can be considered an advantage, although not a requirement for appointment.

The selected candidate is expected to take office by August 2023.


An annual taxable salary starting at MOP 1,210,300 (approximately $149,420) for the position of full professor, MOP 1,019,200 (approximately $125,830) for the position of associate professor and MOP 828,100 (approximately $102,230) for the position of associate professor Assistant Professors will be appropriate to the academic qualifications and relevant work experience of the successful candidate. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
