Minnesota science teacher claims cell biology class is part of ‘capitalist indoctrination’

A science teacher in Minnesota at Saint Paul Public Schools district Fox News Digital found that cell biology classes, particularly about mitochondria, were vilified for “capitalist” propaganda.

Mandi Jung, a Teacher at Highland Park Middle Schoolsaid: “There has been a lot of talk lately about teachers indoctrinating students in their faith. And I always find that funny because basically our kids are steeped in capitalist indoctrination from the second they are born.”

Jung went on to provide the “perfect example” of how “capitalist indoctrination” is expressed in her seventh-grade science classes.

“Seventh grade science… [is] the year you learn that the mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell and all that cellular biology. So at the end of the unit I have [students] make a test. And one of the questions is, “One person says the nucleus is the most important organelle in the cell. Do you agree or disagree and why?”

“And almost every child says, ‘Yes, I agree. Because without a boss, the cell would be in total chaos.'”

Jung added that the students’ answers “drive me crazy” and went on to claim that microscopic bacteria were the “original anarchists”.

“Bacteria do not have a nucleus, and they are arguably one of the most successful classes of organisms on the planet. Bacteria out here are the original anarchists, right? No nucleus, no master. Seize the means of metabolism. I dont know. It’s funny to me,” she said.

Fox News Digital asked the Saint Paul Public Schools District if Jung’s commentary was part of its curriculum, and they sent a science unit used in the district. The county did not directly answer the question.

Jung frequently posts anti-capitalist views on her social media platforms.

For example, she tweeted: “You are not a capitalist, you are an exploited worker with Stockholm Syndrome.”

In another case, Jung recommended that a teacher use what appeared to be a Marxist political cartoon against capitalism.

The poster read: “Capitalism. we rule you we fool you We’re shooting at you. We eat for you.”

She added that surveys conducted without parental consent could violate federal law.

“Surveys like this are not only against the law, but also aim to separate children from their parents. Parents need to know that schools are breaking federal law by asking children about their emotional health, sexual identity, and family relationships without parental consent,” she said.
