New historical novel gives readers a glimpse into healthcare during the era of mass immigration to America

Mary F Belmont announces the release of Stepping Over Rooftops

NEW YORK, 15th December2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Mary F Belmont marks her first foray into the world of fiction with the release of Stepping Over Rooftops (published by Archway Publishing).

Similar to Jennifer Worths “Call the Midwife,” this historical story follows a young Italian nurse’s journey into adulthood as she works with patients, teachers, and other students to contribute to America’s promise through healthcare. The stories are drawn from actual diaries and photographs of late 19th century nursing students. These young women have overcome prejudice and their own insecurities to succeed as pioneers in providing healthcare to the underserved. It shows the mystery, the joy of saving a newborn, the sadness of parting from the people and places they love, and the romance, all wrapped up in the story of America’s mass immigration era.

“I want young readers to know that you should never give up on your dreams and that life is enriched by giving to others and life is enriched by giving to those less fortunate,” says Belmont.
