After all the recent controversy surrounding Olivia Wilde and her latest movie, don’t worry darlingthe filmmaker’s Marvel and Sony project has received a brief update.
For those who aren’t keeping track, Wilde’s latest film, starring Florence Pugh, has caused quite a stir around the world — and not in a good way.
The drama could take pages to explain, but to keep it simple, it included allegations of infidelity, unprofessional behavior on set, an intense focus on marketing the film’s sex scenes, actor disagreements, and more.
Given how blown up the whole situation was, many wondered if Wilde, who directed the play, would feel a setback regarding her future work. One of those upcoming projects would be the rumour spider woman Film, the development of which has been terribly quiet lately.
An update on Olivia Wilde’s Marvel film
In a new report from The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the outlet confirmed this despite the recent controversial Olivia Wilde film don’t worry darlingThe filmmaker is still involved in the rumour spider woman Movie.
THR has expressly pointed this out “[Olivia Wilde] is still busy directing a Marvel feature for Sony.”

The actress revealed this in a previous interview “[she] can’t say a word about it [it]” and joked how she could have “to bury [herself] on the couch” when she told someone.
She elaborated and found how “[she’s] a big fan of what [Marvel is] do:”
“I will say that I find the Marvel approach of allowing newer filmmakers to come into the herd and have access to these Marvel Universe tools incredibly exciting. I’m a big fan of what they’re doing over there… but yeah, I can’t confirm if it is.”
Some fans thought their project might get in trouble due to their recently controversial film don’t worry darling.
Things got so bad that both Olivia Wilde and lead actor Florence Pugh allegedly got into a heated argument on set, according to a source from Vulture. That Black widow The actress was fed up with the director’s constant inexplicable absences with co-star Harry Styles, who was dating Wilde at the time of production.
Things got so bad that Warner Bros. executive Toby Emmerich had to step in to smooth things over.
Then there’s the incident where Olivia Wilde claimed actor Shia Labeouf quit, which he vehemently denied and even provided evidence to support his claims.
This included a video of Wilde basically asking that Labeouf be part of the film, where the director even called Pugh “Miss Flo:”
“I feel like I’m not ready to give that up yet and I’m heartbroken too and I want to find out,” she says in the video. “You know, I think this might be a little wake-up call for Miss Flo, and I want to know if you’re willing to give me, us, a try. If she really commits, if she really puts her mind and heart into it at this point, and if you can make peace – and I respect your point of view, I respect hers – but if you can do it, what do you think? Is there hope? Will you let me know?”
What’s wrong with Spider Woman?
Olivia Wilde’s engagement with the potential spider woman The project was first announced in August 2020. There have only been a handful of updates since then.
However, given the quotes above, despite all the controversy, it still seems to be happening. And going by previous banter from Wilde, it could even be MCU-related. Especially considering how the character is currently shared between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.
Oddly enough, there is actually a movie that has already been made by Sony that will feature several different incarnations of Spider-Woman: Mrs. Netz. The film, starring Dakota Johnson, stars Celeste O’Conner, Anya Corazon, Julia Carpenter and Cassandra Web – but no Jessica Drew, who is widely regarded as the group’s favorite.
Then there’s Silk, aka Cindy Moon, who will be getting her own MGM+ streaming series.
With these two projects making progress, it’s strange how little seems to be happening spider woman. Hopefully that will change soon as many fans are dying to see Drew come to life.
