Taylor Swift is shooting a movie and of course Swifties have theories

Taylor Swift is a true all-rounder. She has won an amazing number of Grammys and is one of the most influential recording artists in the world. The pop star has been venturing into new creative fields lately, directing and writing her own music videos. Remarkably, their video for All Too Well (10 Minute Version) functions as a short film with Dylan O’Brian and Sadie Sink living their hearts out. Now she’s ready to break into the big leagues and direct and write her first feature film, and her fans are already speculating as to what that could mean.
This weekend, Variety reported that Swift will be making her directorial debut with Searchlight Pictures. While this may seem like a surprising move, Swift’s move into feature filmmaking seems like a natural next step to fans of her work. She shoots music videos, which is a common starting point for many directors, and she’s also woven detailed storytelling into her music. One story of Swift that caught the attention of the Swifties comes from their song “Last Great American Dynasty.” The song is surprisingly not a love story and follows the story of their Rhode Island home.
Swift has previously expressed that she absolutely loves the idea of ’Last Great American Dynasty’ as a movie, and her friends Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are also apparently on board. 2020, A fan tweeted the idea of a film based on the song and involving these three actors, saying:
The Last Great American Dynasty would make an incredible film. The story is timeless yet unique, the music would be exquisite and it already has the perfect title. As for the cast: Blake Lively (Rebekah), Ryan Reynolds (Bill), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Neighbor). Manifest…
Ferguson replied and seemed to love the idea, saying:
Ok I’m available @VancityReynolds @blakelively @taylorswift13
Ryan Reynolds also responded, commenting on the story arc of his “character” in the song:
But Bill’s heart…?
Queen Taylor herself was also enthusiastic about the idea:
I’m not trying to be the loudest woman this town has ever seen™ but…I love this
Blake Lively also responded by referencing her best friend’s texts and quipped:
I painted Ryan a key lime green… Can’t wait for him to wake up.
While this adorable interaction just felt like a fun manifestation, now that Swift is directing a feature film, one user dug the interaction and sparked excitement from fans. This could be Swift’s chance to direct the Last Great American Dynasty movie of our dreams. A Twitter user suggested Using the Rhode Island house as a set, say:
When Taylor directs a Last Great American Dynasty movie, she doesn’t even have to build a set—she already has it
A fan referred to Swift’s storytelling and how a Last Great American Dynasty film could bring a Taylor Swift love triangle to life:
Some of you want the folklore triangle love story, but all I know is that a Last Great American Dynasty movie would be 1300 times harder. PRAY TO THE GODS RN
That’s not the only theory Taylor Swift fans have pondered. Her songs always tell a story, which of course has led to ideas for other songs that Swift could borrow for her direction. A theory is for a crime film about her song “no body no crime”:
I hope it’s a thriller!! I want a no body, no crime scenario.
Another fan suggested this might be the folklore love triangle coming to life:
How to get the August Betty Love Triangle Movie Listen Listen cardigan
Really, all of Swift’s songs are cinematic one fan noticed while theorizing about movie possibilities from the singer always Album.
Any Evermore song could easily be turned into its own movie…how do you envision a cowboy-like-me movie? Is the damn time of year?? no corpse, no crime?? champagne problems?? they could all easily be filmed, oh my god
We’ll just have to wait and see what the pop princess has in store for fans. It may be a while before we finally get Swift’s directorial debut, but in the meantime there are so many exciting Taylor Swift projects for Swifties to look forward to.
